Waffleye Case Study

Modern site design for an entrepreneur with a growing business.

We enjoy working with many different clients in all sorts of industries. Whether we’re working with an established business or a new business, the process is always the same.  We get to know each client and their specific needs, then we work to create a solution that will solve their short term problems and provide a long term asset.

Every project has a unique story

Our clients are businesses, businesses are made of people, and each person has a unique story which has lead them to where they are now. Part of being an excellent support system for each client is understanding their story, having compassion for their unique experiences and challenges, then providing intelligently designed solutions which put them in their ideal situation moving forward. When we can do this, clients feel empowered and this is a strong indicator that their business ventures are going to succeed.

A unique physical product based business

Our newest client Waffleye shared their story of how they turned a bad situation into a business opportunity.  While going through chemotherapy for the 3rd time, Billy thought of combining cannabis with food in a fun way, by creating a unique waffle maker. The Waffleye founders did what all successful entrepreneurs do, they took action. They used their creativity and built a beautiful website using a free service, and they started making sales. They set up an affiliate program to help ramp up sales and then they noticed some problems.

Stock website platform preventing the client from scaling

Free website building platforms have many problems but are good for 2 reasons: They are relatively easy to build, and they usually look good. The problems come when you start to grow your business and expect the website to grow with you. The major problem the Waffleye team had that they noticed was costing them business was how slow the website was loading. According to Kissmetrics, 47 percent of visitors expect a website to load in less than 2 seconds, and 40 percent of visitors will leave the website if the loading process takes more than 3 seconds.

The Waffleye team searched for a local digital marketing company and came across our sister company The Final Code. They decided to reach out to The Final Code because of their great rating, and because they’ve been successfully serving Ventura and Santa Barbara for many years. The Final Code specializes in higher scale, custom, and bespoke development and marketing solutions. After consulting with Waffleye, The Final Code recommended that Spiderside based in Santa Barbara handle the build.

WordPress with Woocommerce

We were able to replicate the existing site that had been working for them up to this point, preserving the original look and concept, while adding in the additional functionality that they needed. This solution can also scale up with them as their needs grow, and we will continue to support their project.

“We reached out to The Final Code when we found that our website wasn’t functioning like we wanted it to. It was slow, and we found that the website builder we used to create our site had very limited customization options and wasn’t equipped to grow with us as our company grew. Larry was quick to get back to us and recommended that we work with SpiderSide, as that division would be perfect for the job that we needed done. Josh reached out to us right away and was confident that him and his team could create a website for us that visually mimicked our old site, yet was more efficient, and could grow as our business does. We handed the project over to him just as we left for our honeymoon. We are so happy with the functionality and the aesthetic of our site. We would highly recommend SpiderSide and will be happy to use them for future projects.”
